God knows everything. He knows our actions, our intentions, our goals, our dreams, our desires, our wants, our struggles.
In I Chronicles 28:9, King David said, “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.”
You see, “the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts:”
When I was a girl, my mother used to tell me, “It’s the thought that counts.” There’s a lot of truth in that. The “thought” is my intention, my motive, my reason for doing something. I can do the right thing for all the wrong reasons, and God knows it. Or my motives can be pure and my intentions honorable, yet someone accuses me wrongly. God knows that, too, because He “understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts” for He is “a God of knowledge,” and He knows you better than you know yourself.
When people think they’re full of knowledge, that they have all the answers, that they know more than others, then their hearts are lifted up in pride. That’s when their talk is exceedingly proud and arrogance flows from their lips. But who can boast in knowing more than God? No one. Our knowledge comes from God. God gives us knowledge; He doesn’t need to take our advice.
Ecclesiastes 2:26 says, “For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.”
Knowledge and wisdom come from God, but He gives travail to the proud and arrogant. “…for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” We have nothing to boast about, for only God can discern the motives and intentions behind someone’s actions.
Romans 11:33 says, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!”
