“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Psalm 12:6 says, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”
God’s Word is pure – everlasting and incorruptible. It is holy – sanctified. It is perfect – without fault or error. It is tried – tested and found to be absolute truth.
Psalm 18:30 says, “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”
Psalm 19:7-11 gives us greater understanding of all that God’s Word does for us.
- The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
- The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
- The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
- More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
- Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Pure means “not corrupt, untainted.” Sin has corrupted or spoiled all of God’s creation. God didn’t create weeds or hurricanes or child abuse or wars or famine or meteorites. Look around at the condition of our planet due to all the natural disasters, lack of rain or extreme temperatures, wildfires, and the depravity of mankind who finds pleasure in performing horrendous deeds of wickedness.
But one thing can never be corrupted by mankind, and that is God’s holy, infallible Word.
Revelation 21:1 says, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”
Why did the first heaven and the first earth pass away? Because sin entered in, and it corrupted all of creation. That’s why we deal with “acts of nature,” sometimes referred to as “acts of God.” But God made everything perfect – no thunderstorms or meteor showers or tornadoes or hurricanes. He’s not responsible for those things. We deal with natural disasters because of sin. So when the first heaven and the first earth pass away, everything corruptible will go with them. God’s Word is not corruptible; it is pure.
Jesus said in Luke 21:33, “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
