According to the dictionary, the word shame means “a feeling of distress or humiliation caused by consciousness of the guilt or folly of oneself or an associate.”
At one time or another we’ve all felt a sense of shame or embarrassment due to our own careless actions or those of someone else. Unfortunately, that feeling is all too often a part of life, and no one likes it. But while we have no guarantee that we (or someone we love) won’t cause us shame, we have absolute certainty that God will never bring shame to us in any way. We can trust His Word completely.
- God’s Word is absolute truth. It will never mislead you.
- God’s Word will lighten your path. It will not leave you in darkness.
- God’s Word will encourage, instruct, and guide you through life. You’ll never be alone again.
- God’s Word will transform your life into one that pleases Him. It’s trustworthy.
- God’s Word will give you peace and direction. You no longer have to fear the unknown.
- God’s Word is pure, holy, and infallible. He makes no mistakes.
Honoring God’s commandments will never bring us shame or cause embarrassment.
Psalm 78:7-8 says, “That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.”
Is your spirit steadfast with God? Do you have respect for all His command-ments?
To have respect unto all God’s commandments means to regard them with deference, esteem or honor. In other words, because we have high regard and great respect for His Word, we readily obey all God’s commandments. But before we can obey them, we must first know them. - Regular attendance at a solid Gospel preaching, Bible believing church.
- Faithful Sunday school attendance.
- Prayer for wisdom and spiritual growth.
- Allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you.
Most importantly, you must apply what you learn.
James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
The wise fear the Lord. (Proverbs 9:10) The wise have respect unto His commandments.
Proverbs 3:35 says, “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
