God is omniscient. (All knowing.) He’s not limited in His knowledge.
God is omnipresent. (Everywhere at the same time.) He’s not limited by space and time.
God is omnipotent. (All powerful.) He’s not limited in His strength or ability. Even His name displays His mighty power.
In Exodus 6:3, God said, “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.”
God calls Himself “God Almighty.” Almighty means “having complete power.”
Does God have complete power?
- He created the Earth from nothing. (Gen. 1:1)
- He made mankind from the dust of the ground. (Gen. 2:7)
- He parted the Red Sea and let two million Israelites walk through on dry ground. (Ex. 14:22)
- He caused the sun to stand still for nearly an entire day. (Joshua 10:13)
- He commanded the ravens to feed Elijah. (I Kings 17:4,6)
- He raised the dead to life again. (II Kings 4:32-35)
- He took on the form of a man. (Luke 1:35)
- As a Man, He commanded the storm to be quiet and walked on water. (Mark 4:39)
- The grave could not hold Him. (Mark 16:6)
- Gravity could not keep Him. (Acts 1:9,11)
- The wind and seas obey Him. (Mark 4:41)
God’s power is endless. So, then, is there nothing God can’t do? Yes. God can’t lie.
Titus 1:2 says, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” If God said it, you can believe it.
Neither can God sin.
Deuteronomy 32:4 says, “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”
Psalm 11:7 says, “For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”
And, no, God can’t make a rock so big that He can’t lift it. Why not? He is omnipotent; remember? All powerful.
How does God use His power to benefit His children?
Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” The Gospel of Christ is the power of God, which gives salvation to every person that believes.
John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” God gives us the power to become his children if we simply believe in His Son.
I Peter 1:5 says, “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” Those who trust in Christ are kept saved by God’s power; not by anything they do or accomplish.
II Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” God gives His children a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind. But what they do with those priceless gifts is up to them.
As you can see, Almighty God shares His power with His children. Do you know the power of God in your life? If you don’t, it is not too late.
For Acts 16:31 says, “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
