Everyone desires to go to Heaven when they die; even the atheist. And if we give it any thought at all, we will paint a glorious picture in our mind’s eye of what it might be like. And since no one has been there and then come back to tell us what to expect, each person conjures up an image of Heaven. (I suspect that God sometimes laughs at our visions because they are no where close to the real thing.) However, God gives us a glimpse of His Heavenly home in Revelation chapters 21 and 22.
Heaven is pure; sin is not allowed in. And we’re all sinners, condemned to death by our sin. (Romans 6:23) But the good news is that God provided a way for us to get there through His Son. Jesus paid the price for our sin. Nothing else and no one else could cleanse us so thoroughly that we would be fit to enter God’s pure and sinless home in Heaven. And without that cleansing, no one gets in.
- Jesus is the only WAY to reach God. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
- Jesus is the TRUTH that leads to righteousness and eternal life. Psalm 11:7 says, “For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.”
- Jesus is LIFE. John 1:4 says, “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
If you ask a lost person if they are going to Heaven, most of the time you will hear…
- I hope so.
- I’d like to think so.
- Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ll get there.
Rarely are they ever 100 percent certain because they’re entrance into Heaven is based upon their good deeds and works; the kind of life they lived here on Earth. They can only hope that they’ve been good enough, so they can never be 100 percent certain.
Yet Jesus said, “No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” We can be grateful that our entrance into Heaven doesn’t depend on anything that we do or don’t do. It depends solely on Christ and what He has already done for us. And the only way we can get to God is through His Son. Jesus is the only way to God, the only way to Heaven, and the only way to eternal life. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
