“As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

God’s ways are absolutely perfect. He is 100% reliable in every way.
Psalm 118:9 says, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.”
A prince has a lot of power and influence, but even at his best his judgments are fallible. He makes mistakes. God makes no mistakes. His Word has been put to the test and has been found to be faithful and true.
John 17:17 says, “…thy word is truth.”
You can safely put your trust in God. He won’t disappoint you. He’ll never let you down. He is a shield and protector to all those who trust Him.
Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” It doesn’t get any better than that.
David wrote Psalm 18 in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul (Psalm 18:1; II Samuel 22:1) He knew firsthand what God (and only God) could do for him.
In Psalm 146:3, the psalmist says, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” (The son of man refers to a person born in sin; not Christ, the Son of God.)
This psalm is not credited to David, but he very well could have written it. David knew that Prince Jonathan, King Saul’s son, couldn’t even protect him from Saul’s wrath, let alone that of his other enemies. The Bible says that Jonathan and David loved each other tremendously, so if Jonathan had the power to protect David, he would have. But he couldn’t; therefore David cried out to God.
“In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth…He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.” (Psalm 18:6-7, 17)
Then in verses 31-32 David adds, “For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.”
God is perfect; hence His ways are perfect. If we honor and obey Him, He makes our ways perfect, too, which means that they please Him.
