“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
Psalm 100:4 KJV
To have a heart filled with thanksgiving and to offer up to God true praise is to experience an incredible joy that only comes from God.
Psalm 89:15-16 says, “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.”
When we walk in the light of God’s countenance and we rejoice all day long in His name and in His righteousness, we can’t help but “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:” to “be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
If we only exalted God for giving us breath and creating our world, He would certainly deserve every word of praise. But God has done far more than we could ever imagine.
I Chronicles 16:34 says, “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” God continually showers His children with His never-ending mercy and goodness. He cares for us in ways that we often take for granted.
- Providing rain and snow that waters the earth.
- Warming the earth and growing our crops with His sunshine.
- Guarding and protecting us from harm.
- Guiding us through His Word and Holy Spirit.
- Comforting and strengthening us.
- Blessing us with opportunities to serve Him.
- Empowering us to share His Word and do His will.
These are just a few of the many things that God does for His children on a regular basis. No one has ever done more for us than God. He deserves our sincere praise and heartfelt thankfulness more than we deserve His blessings.
