We serve a gracious and merciful God.
Ephesians 4:32 says, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
God delights in our prayers, especially when we imitate Him in all areas of our lives by being kind and forgiving and loving and merciful and patient toward others. When we strive to be this kind of Christian, to care for others as God has cared for us, and we run into challenges far beyond our abilities to cope and we cry unto God, He hears our prayers.
Colossians 3:12-14 says, “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
This is how God expects His children to behave: with mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forgiveness, and above all, we’re to show love. If we’re doing those things for others, as Christ did them for us, we won’t ignore the genuine cry of those who need help.
In Luke 6:36, Jesus said, “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
It is a condition of answered prayer.
