“Call Unto Me, and I Will Answer Thee…”

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

God tells you to call unto Him (In other words: to pray) and He will answer.  Not only will He answer, but He will show you great and mighty things, which you don’t know anything about.  Why would God do that for you? 

  1. He loves you tremendously. 
  2. He wants you to have the very best. 
  3. He wants you to know Him for who He is.
  4. He wants to demonstrate His awesome power for you so that you will know what He’s capable of.
  5. He wants you to trust Him to meet your every need and to care for you in a way that no one else can.

Throughout God’s Word, God clearly spells out conditions for every promise He makes to us.  This particular promise was made to the prophet, Jeremiah.  Does that mean that we can’t claim it?  No.  If God meant for this promise to apply to no one but Jeremiah, it wouldn’t be in the Bible.  God wants us to claim this promise for all the reasons mentioned above.  We simply must remember that His conditions for answered prayer apply.

  1. I can’t have sin in my life.  Psalm 66:18 says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” 
  2. I must be righteous before God and petition him earnestly.  James 5:16 says, “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
  3. I must pray according to His will.  I John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
  4. I must pray believing that God will answer me.  Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Let’s call unto God as He would have us to because He has great and mighty things that He wants to show us.
