Verses of the Week: Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”
Encouraging Thought: We serve a holy God who is pure in every aspect of His nature. His words flow from His nature. Therefore, God’s words are as pure as He. Psalm 12:6 says, “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of fire, purified seven times.”
But God’s Word isn’t only pure. God’s Word is also a purifying agent. Psalm 119:9 and 11 say, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word…Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Because God’s Word is pure, I can cleanse my way by simply obeying it. But if I go a step further – meditate on God’s Word; internalize its message – that will help keep me from sin.
Words of Wisdom: Purified water means that there are no impurities in your drinking water. In other words, there is not the slightest trace of impurities; otherwise, it can’t be called “purified” water.
Although God made man in His image, due to Adam’s sin, we now battle a sin nature. Therefore, mankind is infested with impurities of every kind. Yet, is our “purified” drinking water purified seven times, as is God’s Word? Probably not. Our “purified” water is probably not nearly as pure as we’d like to think. And here we are, full of impurities ourselves, adding and changing God’s Holy Word to “clarify” it for easy understanding. Can God’s Holy Word, which He purified seven times, remain pure when it is altered, changed, and reworded by a people, who are, in God’s eyes, deceitful and desperately wicked? (Jeremiah 17:9) How can something that is so utterly filthy rub off on something that is spotlessly pure and clean without contaminating it? By our very nature, mankind is impure. If man in any way alters God’s words, he has just corrupted the purified Word of God with impurities. How, then, can God’s children cling to such corrupted bibles as:
- The Living Bible – a paraphrase where God’s holy words have been changed
- The Amplified Bible – Someone has corrupted the Holy Words of God (which He purified seven times) by adding to it. Proverbs 30:6 says, “Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” Revelation 22:18 says, “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:”
Is mankind not concerned about the horrendous consequences awaiting the ones who tamper with God’s Holy Word?
- NIV – Missing and changed verses. (Compare Acts 8:37 with the KJV)
- ASV – Missing words and changed verses (Compare Romans 8:1 with the KJV)
You compare any other so-called translation with the Authorized King James translation of God’s Holy Word and you will find missing verses, added words, gross discrepancies in meaning, and horrendous contradictions. And people flock to these artificial bibles filled with contradictions because the pride of impure people are going to improve on the purified Words of God. All they did was contaminate it. No wonder non-Christians say, “The Bible is full of contradictions.” And man’s revisions are, but God’s Holy Word is not.
Revelation 22:19 says, “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
I’ve heard people say, “That’s just talking about Revelation.” Are you sure? Let’s suppose that you’re right. Have you seen any other version of the Bible that did not also reword the book of Revelation? If you want to purify your heart and life through God’s Holy Word, then you must hold fast to the King James Version which has stood the test of time. All other versions are full of impurities and contradictions because mankind has changed God’s purified words to “clarify” His meaning, as if they know the mind of God.
